The LLHA provides opportunities for horseshoers to talk shop with other horseshoers, equine professionals in complementary fields, and anyone interested in gaining insight into the world of professional farriery.

Pulling from the Illinois farrier industry's pool of diverse and talented equine professionals, we're all about farrier education and improving the welfare of the horse. Join us to share ideas about shoeing, tools, business, new products, new research, shoeing theories, anatomy, and issues involving the horse world in general.

Dear Friends,
Just this past year I became a member of the LLHA. I began my business just over a year ago after graduating from Midwest Horseshoeing School. I found out real quick that operating a farrier business was not going to be easy and having people available to contact when necessary was an absolute must. I figured becoming a member of the AFA and LLHA would be beneficial over the years as my business grew. Little did I know that $55.00 investment into the LLHA would pay dividends so quickly.

Within the first 9 months of operating as a full time farrier I found out that I had severe Carpal & Cubital Tunnel in both elbows and wrists. My arms were going numb almost every night when I slept. After several meetings with multiple doctors I made the decision to go under the knife to fix my left arm.

The reason for choosing the winter months is obvious but there are still a few horses you just can't put off. So I made contact with Curt Bogner (a good friend from Arenzville) & Billy Walters to see if they could cover a few for me while I was heeling. Little did I know that Billy would recommend me to receive assistance from our "Injured Farriers Fund."
I was shocked when I received news that I would be getting a check for $500.00. I want to thank each and every member of the LLHA and let anyone who may be procrastinating about joining to think again. This injury was a big surprise to me and had I not made the decision to join the LLHA, I would have missed out on this incredible blessing that could not have come at a more appropriate time of year.

Again, I want to thank everyone for making this Christmas season that much more merry for me and my family. May God bless each of you and your families This Holiday Season.  I hope one day I can repay your generosity ten fold.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year,
Steve, Tonya, Kenny & Christian
