Land of Lincoln Horseshoers Association Membership Benefits
• Reduced fees for all LLHA clinics:
LLHA members receive a $10 discount on all clinics hosted by the LLHA. These consist of a February clinic at Anvil Brand Horseshoe Company, a spring clinic, a pre-certification in late summer, as well as a certification in late September. This schedule is subject to change based on the desires of the membership.
• Learn and Refine Skills:
Many clinics include hands-on portions available to members desiring to implement the skills in a practical situation.
LLHA membership votes on clinicians brought in so as to best suit the needs of its members. Skills are geared towards the season in which the clinic is held (i.e. forging and tool work during the cooler months and live shoeing in the spring).
• Enrollment in the LLHA Injured Farrier Fund:
The LLHA maintains a fund to assist injured members in times of emergency. This may be awarded posthumously to the family of a deceased member. No length of membership is required for eligibility and average payouts are $500 and are voted on by the membership present at the time of the meeting.
• Notification of upcoming events:
In addition to the information presented on the LLHA website, members receive mailed notification of upcoming events and clinics.
• LLHA Members Awards Program:
* LLHA hat, pin, and window decal upon joining.
* LLHA polo shirt after five years continuous membership.
* A hand tool after ten years continuous membership.
• Meet, interact, and develop friendships with LLHA members.
Clinics and events usually last two days and provide opportunities for social, as well as professional, interaction. Each clinic has a designated host hotel and favored local restaurant, where discussions are continued throughout the weekend. Diversity amongst the members provides a large pool of collective knowledge. Pulling from the Illinois farrier industry's range of specialization, discussions cover all disciplines of riding, environmental conditions, clientele demands, and shoeing theory.
